The vision of the IRCBC is to bring together outstanding biologists and chemists to work side by side at the interface of biology and chemistry. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and tools in cell biology, neurobiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, proteomics, and genomics, the center aims to address the most compelling and important biological questions broadly relevant to neurological and neurodegenerative diseases.
The IRCBC is equipped with world-class research facilities and focuses on the following directions:
(1) Applying molecular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, and AI to elucidate signaling networks that regulate cell death in neurodegenerative diseases;
(2) Developing and utilizing animal models to study the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, as well as neural injury and repair;
(3) Employing genomic approaches to identify novel genes and regulatory mechanisms involved in aging;
(4) Using proteomics and metabolomics to systematically reveal protein structures and functions related to neurodegenerative diseases;
(5) Combining structural biology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and other methods to discover and optimize small-molecule drug candidates, and collaborating with pharmaceutical companies to develop innovative therapeutic strategies for treating neurodegenerative diseases.
At the IRCBC, we pursue both fundamental scientific advances and innovative breakthroughs that can be applied to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. We welcome broad, interdisciplinary collaborations both within China and around the world.
