Lysosomes are central hubs for cellular degradation and signaling, and their homeostasis is critical for cell health. Lysosomal dysfunction is closely linked to a range of major human diseases and plays a particularly pivotal role in the progression of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.
The Wang Lab is dedicated to uncovering the mechanisms that maintain lysosomal homeostasis. We aim to address the following key questions:
1. How do healthy cells sense, repair, and clear damaged lysosomes?
2. Why do these finely-tuned mechanisms fail under disease conditions?
3. What is the therapeutic potential of unlocking precise control over lysosomal function?
