韦海研究员以模式生物C.elegans为主要研究模型,旨在揭示机体胁迫响应,脂质代谢以及机体衰老的相互影响机制。实验室前期的研究发现,半胱天冬酶CED-3/caspase在非生物胁迫响应,脂毒性以及UV辐射衰老等发育过程中发挥有重要的生理功能。因此,揭示半胱天冬酶或其它未知的因子在以上发育过程中的作用机制十分重要。相关研究获得2023年度美国西南医学中心Alfred & Mabel Gilman Memorial Excellence Scientific Award。实验室现主要研究兴趣概括如下:
1.研究揭示CED-3/caspase(或鉴定其它关键脂质代谢调控因子)如何调节脂质代谢以消 除机体脂毒性进而预防衰老过程。
2. 研究半胱天冬酶 CED-3(或鉴定其它抵抗 UV 辐射的关键因子)如何促进机体抵抗 UV 辐射导致的衰老。
3. 研究揭示CED-3/caspase调控运动神经元细胞损伤后的轴突再生修复机制。
4. 脂肪酸合成酶在机体发育或胁迫响应过程中的新功能研究。
